1975 Lyman 24’ Biscayne Project Boat ID No. LYM00233M74BG 225 HP Mercruiser gas engine w/Velvet Drive s/n 3896292 and Holley Carb 30’ double axel trailer Equipment includes: Boat Leveler InstTrim hydraulic trim tab system All other original components that were on the boat when last in the water (gas tanks, cleats, etc.) I bought this boat used in 1996 and ran her in Lake Erie thru 2000. I pulled her into my shop to repair some soft spots in the floors. Once I cut some of the floors out, I found rot in the fiberglass wrapped wooden stringers and decided to do a complete rebuild. I did extensive work to the interior and then got too busy to devote any more time to the project. The boat has been stored indoors since 2000. The photos in the listing were taken 8/7/2010, the boat has been in dry storage before and after then. Work done: Cut out all the plywood cored areas of the floors back to the solid fiberglass perimeter. Formed and vacuum bagged solid fiberglass “lips” to support ¾” marine plywood floor inserts to replace the cored areas. Removed the wooden stringers, fiber glassed, filled and faired all interior surfaces beneath the stringers. Dropped the entire interior liner from hull, removed the sub-standard pine boards that attached the liner to the hull. Using epoxy and glass, bonded multiple canvas phenolic blocks to the hull with tapped holes that now affix the liner to the hull in a very secure way. While the liner was down, from the inside, fiber glassed the entire hull to deck seam. This improves the factory method of simply pop-riveting the seam and provides a watertight seam. Glassed over all the exposed wood on the inside of the transom (exhaust ports and stiffeners). Repaired from beneath (balsa core vacuum bagged) the only soft spot in the deck. Built an aluminum jig fixture with bases affixed to the hull to assist in placing the engine mounts once the new stringers are installed. I have extensive digital images “before” and in-process to assist during the rebuild. The engine ran great, never any problems. I bought the trailer separately; it is extremely well built but not ramp launch-able. There are slots cut in the trailer supports for sling pickup. A very pleasant boat to operate, with some time and effort she can be turned into a beautiful boat.
