1981 Island Packet 26 - Ready to Cruise - Sacrifice Price - Keel/Centerboard - No Reserve This is a prime example of the iconic Island Packet 26. Ama is hull number 9 of the boat that launched the Island Packet Company and she is still going strong. With her 10’ 6” beam she is as roomy as many 30 footers and stable on all points of sail. The design is reminiscent of the classic cat boats but larger and sloop rigged, with the option of rigging her as a cutter. If you are moving up from a day-sailor or down from a larger boat - she might be just right for you. I hate parting with this boat because she is such a perfect cruiser for the Chesapeake Bay. Drawing only 28 inches with the board up, she can go almost anyplace. I have purchased a small trawler to cruise the Great Loop and now need to pass Ama on to another owner. Please look at all the pictures, do your homework and research these boats online. You will see the great following they have and also see this one is being offered for far less than what many are going for. Dimensions LOA: 30 ft 0 in Beam: 10 ft 6 in LWL: 24 ft 1 in Length on Deck: 26 ft 2 in Keel: Centerboard Minimum Draft: 2 ft 4 in Maximum Draft: 5 ft 6 in Displacement: 8000 lbs Ballast: 2750 lbs Her sails are in excellent shape and there is another set of spares. She has a fully battened “Doyle Stack Pack” main and a Harken roller furled jib for easy single handed sailing. Also there is a large dodger in fairly good shape and cockpit cushions. For ground tackle there is a CQR plow and Fortress fluke anchor with chain and rode. She has gated double lifelines, and newer radio and depth finder, and compass. The radio has a remote control/mike for use at the helm. There are six new stainless steel opening ports with screens as well as two solar powered vents. Additional gear includes: a Weems &Plath clock, barometer and temperature/humidity gauge, SS sink with pressure and manual pump, 2 burner stove, extra 12vt power ports, LED cabin lights, two large fuel filters for fuel polishing, swim ladder, dinghy motor mount, etc. Her one cylinder Yanmar YSM diesel is original and runs strong and starts easily. Full Disclosure: Please keep in mind that this is a 1981 boat. It is ready to cruise today and should not be considered a project boat but she is 33 years old. The early Island Packets were molded with too thick gel coat applied in the nonskid area so there is deck crazing that I think is only a cosmetic issue. The decks were painted by a previous owner but not prepped properly so there are small spots on the bow and starboard side that have paint loss. The only other maintenance items I am aware of are: The teak trim could use oiling or varnish and the bottom paint is about 18 months old so probably needs redoing. Again – this is not a project boat. She is sound and cruise ready, I just need one less boat to maintain. This boat is also for sale locally for substantially more money so it may not sell but I reserve the right to terminate the listing early if it does. Zero feedback bidders need to check with me before bidding. Good luck if you bid and thanks for looking.
